The ulimate geocoder (thank you, Google?)

Really cool: I was searching a piece of text from a particular book. Googled the book (with the books option on) and I got a nice map, with all the locations mentioned in the book. It is a kind of hard to describe, but this is what it looks like:

And the book wasn’t even a travel guide… But what’s the use of this? To me, it falls into the ‘nice’ category. I know Google (lab) products don’t have to have a use right away. Maybe it will get to me.

The useful stuff from Google: Chrome, Android, iGoogle (love it). And off course Maps and Earth, which have really, tremendously, accelerated geography and information systems. So thank you Google for those. Now please get the privacy issues straightened out.
